Matt Schembri is the founder and Director of HAUL MEDIA.

He brings over 20 years of Multimedia experience to the team, and over a decades worth of industry know-how to the table.

Starting as an Animator, Editor & VFX artist on Australian independent features, Matt has since expanded his knowledge and experience into Music Video Production, collaborating with Australian acts, such as Lime Cordiale, Dom Dolla, Client Liaison, Peach Fur, Donny Love and many more. In recent years, Matt has also Produced 3 Independent feature films, one of which being his Directorial debut (DUO) HAUL MEDIA’s first feature film backed independently by investors.

While his exploits in visual media were substantial, he felt his musical talents and years of experience as a musician were overlooked, and in 2014 began Producing Music for himself. Since then, he has released 10 albums, and scored 2 feature films and several shorts. As a true listener, Sound Design also comes naturally to him, and he continues to build sonic experiences for audiences and enthusiasts alike.

As a Designer & Illustrator, Matt has also been responsible for the Management of Print Production Facilities, providing expert level attention to detail and stylistic discernment. His talent for 2D and 3D Graphic Design are noticeable within his own personal collection of artwork, logos and designs.

Matt’s experiences as a Professional Photographer also come into play at HAUL. Having spent years shooting events, functions, wildlife, nature, architecture, products and portraits, giving him a leading edge not only in front of a computer, but behind the lens as well.

“In 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 3 CNS Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, which covered my entire spine and spread to my brain. It left me paralysed from the chest-down. After surgeries, treatments, rehabilitation and a stem-cell transplant, I was able to live my life again, and move like I had before. Once reaching complete remission, I took time to reflect, relearn, and rebuild—not just myself, but my entire approach to the industry as a leader. Now, with a clear vision, proven pipelines, and a trusted network in place, I’m picking up exactly where I left off.”
